Fake Febreze

Ever since I saw this faux febreze I have been wanting to make it.  Today I decided why not?  I used the recipe  #4 found HERE at Tip Nut's site.  I also urge you to read through the comments for any concerns you may have.  Check HERE and HERE for more comments, tips, and concerns on making your own febreze along with recipes.  Lots of great info in the comments.  Even with some of the concerns I decided to give it a go ;)  I do plan on making my own fabric softener as soon as my Downy runs out.  Then I will try the fake febreze with my homemade softener.

Fake Febreze
1/4 cup Fabric Softener
1 TBS Baking Soda
Warm Water to fill the bottle (at least 2 cups mine is a 24 oz so it will be closer to 4 cups)

  • Pour everything in the spray bottle and give it a good shake to combine
  • Spray as needed to freshen a room or fabrics
So far I really like this, but I expected to since I love the smell of downy.  I know there are many concerns about chemicals, flammability, etc.  When my downy is gone I plan on making my own fabric softener and I am hoping it will work just as good.  I do use vinegar from time to time as well and that seems to work, but I  was not to keen on my room spray made with vinegar.  It dissipated to quickly and I like my scents to hang around for a bit which this one does.  For now this is a super cheap solution instead of buying febreeze for $4.99 at the store.  :)
